Offer Value

“Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

Theodore Roosevelt's quote is still true today.

As you are getting to know someone you need to step up and pay attention. You may think this is crazy,
but it takes something really simple to show you care, and it can go a long way to build rapport.

Here are a few examples I find of offering value that elicit a warm, appreciative response:

I find a photo on Facebook that the person has posted. It may be their children at a celebration, or their

puppy being mischievous – or a really nice photo of them – and I create a personalized greeting card (easy
to do with the system I use) and send it to them.

On Mother’s Day my friend posted a beautiful photo of her with her two sons – a rare occasion these days
for most of us – I used this photo on the front of a card with the message that this was such a great photo it

needed to be more than just in her camera - #photomemory. She messaged me saying how much she

loved the card and was going to frame it. Mission accomplished.

After a conversation, perhaps something you discussed made you think of an article or a book that you

read that may be of interest to your new connection. Send it to them with a personalized note.
