Value of Smiles

  1. Smiling improves mood by instantly activates the release of feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin in your brain.
  2. Smiles makes you more approachable. Smiles affect those around you as well. In the service industry, customers are happier with their purchases when working with employees who shared smiles.
  3. Smiles makes you more trustworthy. Participants ranked models on three different conditions, that they overwhelmingly trusted the models more who were smiling. Basically, it conveys a sort of innocent kindness that translates to trustworthiness.
  4. Smiles train your brain to think more positively. You can even train yourself to smile more, and therefore effectively train yourself to reach more positively to life events, no matter how gloomy they may be. It is about wiring yourself to positive instead of negative.
  5. Smiling is contagious and will make other people happy. Due to mirror neurons that fire in the brain, humans are able to mimic the actions of others, like smiling, which has the ability to produce happiness.
  6. Smiles boosts your productivity because you tend to work harder and feel more confident in your work, which inevitably boosts your productivity. And even a healthier work ethic & office environment.
  7. Smiles make you more creative because dopamine released in a smile is involved in learning, processing, and decision-making, allowing for a heightened creativity as it pertains to problem-solving and artistic endeavors requiring much analysis.

  16. Smiles reduce aggression based on experiments. This means that just witnessing a smile, a person about to perform an act of aggression was more likely to stop this emotion in its tracks.
  17. Smiles make you a better leader because it draws people to you. Furthermore, when you’re constantly upbeat, it can make others feel more relaxed and able to be themselves, fostering a truly nurturing work environment that can only make others excel… the whole point of leadership.
